At first, you must have a Non-immigrant O-A retirement visa that has a 3-month duration. After that, the non-immigrant visa can be changed into a one-year retirement visa.

Documents required for the Non-immigrant visa

  • At least 50 years of age

  • Being a national or permanent resident of the country of application
  • Showing documents as proof of financial requirements
  • Proof of pension or cash statement

  • 800000 baht pension or savings or a combination of  two Thai bank accounts 
  • Police report 
  • You must show a Rental contract in order to open a bank account
  • A health certificate
  • Non immigrant type  O-A visa
  • Departure Card

The retirement visa duration is for one year in which you have to leave the country and go to the neighboring countries to renew the visa for another year. You also need a re-entry visa if you want to go out of Thailand within a one-year period. If you don’t get a re-entry visa then your retirement visa will be expired, and you will be required to repeat the whole process again.

Reporting to the Thai immigration

You must notify your address to the Thai immigration office after every 90 days.

You are required to pay 2 2-month security deposit when renting accommodation. 

You must apply for a new retirement visa before the older one expires within one year. Now you will only have to pay the fee and produce some photos.

One-Year Thai Visa

Student Visa

The letter of admission contains details of the courses you want to study and also the fee you have to pay. The student visa is for one year. according to the rules you must register for at least 3 courses in one semester. According to Thai regulations students are not allowed to study in June and July.

Documents required to get an education visa from your home country

To extend your visa for more than 90 days you need a Non-Immigrant ED visa that is for one year stay in Thailand. You need a visa application and a letter of admission from a school/university as proof of your enrollment especially if the university /school doesn’t help you to acquire the Ed visa. Then you need to submit your application to the Thai consulate. After registering you can apply for the Non-ED visa within the first 30 days.

Education Visa

After that, you have proof that you want to enroll in an institution in Thailand in the form of an Admission letter in which all the details are mentioned e.g. Fee, no of courses, etc. you must apply for the ED visa.  An education visa or Ed visa is for a period of one year that is renewable every year. You can apply for the Ed visa within the first 30 days.

Documents Required

  1. Your passport, with at least 6 months’ due validity
  2. A photocopy of the information page (the one with your photo) of your passport, signed
  3. The admission letter from the institution OR letter from the Ministry of Education
  4. Application form
  5. Four passport-size photos.
  6. Visa fee of 2000THB or according to the location you are in.
Note: Nationals of these countries namely, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iran, India, China, and Pakistan among others, must return to their home countries to apply for Non-Immigrant visas,

Notifying the immigration office

Even after you get an ED visa for 1 year you have to notify your address to the immigration office after every 90 days. For this purpose, you will have to fill out a short form.

If you are in a foreign country you must get a marriage O visa from the Thai embassy in your respective country. The O visa has 4 segments and is only a single entry visa. In which case the first entry into Thailand applies the one segment of 30 days.  Then you can extend your visa into one year called the spousal extension visa but the application can only be submitted within 90 days. In order to obtain a Marriage visa in Thailand, you require paperwork and take this to Thai immigration. Marriage registration

In the case of a foreigner marrying a Thai spouse, the process is a little complicated while on the other hand in the case of a Thai marrying a Thai spouse it is relatively easy and simple. The marriage registration can be done at any well-defined office in Thailand. You need to show evidence that you are single and are allowed to get married in Thailand.  For this, you need a proof document from your country’s respective Embassy in Thailand.  You will also be required to translate the documents into the Thai language. If your spouse has died or been divorced then you will need to show the death certificate or divorce document in order to prove that you are no longer married and your status is single. These documents must then be translated into Thai and verified by Thai foreign affairs. Finally, take these documents to Amphur or Khet in order to register your marriage. of consular affairs who will sign the documents officially and then finally the documents with the translation will be filled with the district registrar. The marriage will be registered and the marriage certificate is given. With the issuance of the marriage certificate, the marriage registration process ends. Following are the conditions for marriage.

According to Thai Law, the husband must give some property to the woman as proof of the marriage. Only then is the marriage considered effective.

Eligibility

The couples that are getting married need to abide by the following rules to be eligible for marriage. Both the partners must not be less than 17 years of age. They must not be insane or incompetent persons. Both partners should not be a blood relative brother or sister or full or half-blood. Both the partners should not have the same adoptive parents Both the partners must be single, thus they should not have a spouse at the time of marriage. If the woman’s husband died or the marriage has been terminated then she must wait until 310 days to remarry. Documents Required: Affidavit of Marriage Copy of passport Death certificate or divorce document (in case your wife passed away or you both divorced.) Documents required by your Thai fiancée National Identity card House registration certificate Divorce or death certificate of his/her passed away or last spouse

Prenuptial Agreement

A prenuptial agreement is an agreement between both husband and Wife on how they will manage their assets and property after they get married. Who will get what and how much he/she will get it. Not only this but also what will happen if the husband and wife separate then how will be the division of assets made. So it is a plan of how will the assets be divided upon divorce or how the assets and property will be controlled during the marriage life. So it is a financial contract that tells how a couple will manage the financial aspects of their marriage life. So a prenuptial agreement is a plan for the unexpected mishap that is a divorce e.g. So it is a backdoor exit that protects your rights and assets and property. So a prenuptial agreement must be prepared in a very careful and thoughtful manner. What happens if a couple doesn’t make a prenuptial agreement?
